Celebrate girls and women with ETC on two special days.
October 11th is International Day of the Girl Child, as designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011. IDGC “focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights,” according to the UN’s website.
International Day of Rural Women (October 15th) was designated by the UN General Assembly in 2007, in recognition of “the critical role and contribution of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.”
Girls and women around the world are working hard to improve their personal futures and those of their families and community members. Join us in recognizing and celebrating them by sharing your own photos and experiences on social media! Use the hashtags #InternationalDayoftheGirl, #InternationalDayoftheGirlChild, or #InternationalDayofRuralWomen. Feel free to tag @ETC_Nepal on Instagram or Twitter!
