Model classrooms in rural Nepal

June 20, 2017

Please take a moment to read ETC’s most recent blog post on the Global Campaign for Education-US Chapter’s website. In the aftermath of the 2015 earthquakes that damaged or destroyed every school in our project area, ETC is supporting the construction of two-classroom buildings at as many schools as possible. We are particularly focusing on the primary schools, which are smaller and less likely to receive financial assistance from either the government or larger non-profits. These buildings run from $7,000 to $10,000 apiece, furnished, and the design is quake-resistant. Students and teachers love these buildings, which feel so much safer and are so much nicer than what they had before, and which of course are a vast improvement upon the temporary classrooms that are still in use at most schools.
